Volunteer for us and Get Free Archives Training
Are you interested in queer history and archives? Do you love meeting new people?
We are looking for volunteers to help document and deposit the collection of the Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES) at Bishopsgate Institute.
Volunteers will be working with digital and physical materials connected to the charity GIRES from the 1970s to present. The GIRES collection will help to inform events and exhibition and other project outputs for LGBT+ History Month 2023 and beyond.
We will give you free training, including:
Archive skills including basic cataloguing
Digitisation;
Queer Archives;
Ethical considerations.
This first workshop includes a tour, a queer archives intro, and first insights into the cataloguing process of GIRES physical memorabilia.
